The Vinyl Hunters
We're just a few Canadian music geeks with a love of obscure records by Canadian artists. If you'd like to get in touch, just drop us a line.
Kevin McGowan is the host of the popular Canadian Music podcast, The Ruckus, which is part of the Rabble Podcast Network. On that show, he interviews established artists as well as up-and-comers about their music, and the Canadian Music Industry. He loves old vinyl, and often dreams of flipping through stacks and finding "the greatest record ever".... though he has no idea what that is. You can keep up with him at his new website, www.kevinmcgowan.ca.
Spiro Papuckoski started collecting vinyl albums in 2000. He collects funk, soul, jazz, disco, rap, rock and pop records, especially if it is obscure (and Canadian). When not looking for music in thrift stores, flea markets and garage sales, Spiro works as a Web editor.
Robert Williston is the founder and curator for the Musum of Canadian Music, located in Calgary, Alberta. The Museum of Canadian Music (™) was created to discover, preserve, and share our Canadian heritage and history through recorded music and sound. Robert Williston has been building a comprehensive database of Canadian music since 1988 and the first CD-ROM release should finally be available late in 2010. Currently, the database contains approximately 45,000 titles by Canadian artists. The museum contains over 50,000 Canadian music artifacts covering all genres and formats and represents the largest and most diverse collection of modern Canadian music (post 1950) anywhere in the world. Amongst a miriad of local and national sources, the museum is currently in the process of re-patriating rare Canadian music from all over the world including Europe, South America, United States of America, and Japan.
