I'm very happy to say that there is all sorts of information out there about Ron McMunn. Born in Clayton Ontario in 1932, Mr. McMunn was exposed to country music very early in his life, and played with countless bands and artists across Canada for decades. This album, performed with the Country Cousins (who formed in 1954), covers some great territory. I'm not 100% sure, but I think the label suggest that they are all McMunn originals, but I could easily be corrected. Regardless, this is old-school country from the Ottawa Valley, and the musicianship is astounding. This would have made for some amazing barn dances.

I Heard the Bluebirds Sing (with Dorothy Dawn)
This album was released on Banff records, though the exact date is unclear. There are no liner notes or specifics available on the LP itself unfortunately.
Ron and the Cousins had a weekly radio show on CJET in Smiths Falls, Ontario for 13 years, which only led to increase his popularity in the National Capital Region. It seems he was definitely one of the hottest musical properties of the era.
Though he never learned to read music (he was well known for just picking up anything by ear), he successfully led his groups across Canadian tours with lots of well-known acts like Wilf Carter.
Sadly, Mr. McMunn passed away in 2007 (obituary here). But if you head into the smaller towns around Ottawa, you'll bump into his fans everywhere.
