Peter Sandy

Peter Sandy was an '80s reggae singer based out of Vancouver, by the look of it. I couldn't track down much in the way of information about him, but the liner notes help a bit:

"PETER SANDY: Born in the Commonwealth of Dominica, West Indies, "Tropical land of many rivers and beautiful mountains"
All songs composed, arranged, performed, produced and directed by PETER SANDY
Recorded at: MUSHROOM STUDIOS, VANCOUVER, B.C., CANADA
Engineer: DALE PENNER
Recorded at: BULLFROG STUDIOS, VANCOUVER, B.C., CANADA
Engineer: AL REMPEL
On "SURVIVOR" and "LOVELY BABY" all instruments were performed solely by PETER SANDY
MUSICIANS:
Lead Vocals: PETER SANDY
Lead and Rhythm Guitars: PETER SANDY
Bass Guitar: FRANK "BAMBI" HOLDER, VEGARI CENDAR, PETER SANDY
DX-7 Keyboard Synthesizer: PETER SANDY
Keyboards on "Sweet Music" and "Les Bourgois": BERNARD FERNANDES
Saxaphone: JOHN KELLY, ANTHONY MAILARD
Trumpet: JIM ROSS, JOHN KORSRUD
Timbales, Percussion: TOM KALPATOO
Congas, Bells, Vibra-slap, Percussion: PETER SANDY
Background Vocals: LEIGHTON JAMES, PETER SANDY"

"Lovely Baby," the first song on the album and also the best, is an exuberant paen to the pretty ladies of Vancouver, Canada, Dominica and the Caribbean. "I Want To Be Somebody" is a slightly moodier piece with some slick guitar work and off-kilter trumpet fills towards the end. And "Mr. D.J." is a classic reggae party tune centered around a simple-but-catchy bassline.
