Cabbage Towne, formerly known as The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly, came
together following the tragic drowning death of guitarist Gerry Hall in
October 1975. A small note on the back cover mentions that Hall "will
always be remembered." Mickey Andrews, who played the dobro and the
steel guitar, and Randy McDonald, who was the bassist, recruited Randy
Lovely (actually Levely, a misprint on the album) on guitar and Don Jerrett on drums.
The album, which came out in 1976 and was produced and arranged by
Toronto music man Art Snider for his Periwinkle label, is straight
ahead country music with a little groove sprinkled here and there. The
two featured tracks are the more uptempo songs on the album, Buddy
Holly's classic "That'll Be The Day" and "Sleepwalk", the famous Santo
& Johnny instrumental recorded in 1959.
