Peaches

The Peaches were a vocal group consisting of sisters Johanna, Maria and Betty Hartzema. Not much is known about the group, although this is their first (and last?) album. Their self-titled debut was recorded at Sound Canada studios in Toronto for Periwinkle Records. No date is given when the album was recorded, but it was likely around 1973.

The blurb on the back cover doesn't give much more: "The Peaches, following in the tradition of sister acts, give a lyrical demonstration of their talents .... There are great, proven hits in this collection, intermingled with original material by Betty, Maria and Al Rain. Listen to the cut "Ready And Willing" -- it is unquestionably great! Art Snider, who arranged and produced the album draws the best from the girls, ably backed up by the studio band -- "The Sound Canadians"."

Well, the band consisted of Lenny Blum and Sebastian Agnell on guitars, Paul Clinch on drums, Don Paveling on bass, Snider on keyboards, Lilian Nicholoff on violin, Peter Maness on trombone and Noel Methven on trumpet and flugelhorn.

A collection of pop songs -- mostly covers -- fill out this album. Nothing out of the ordinary, but check out their renditions of Carly Simon's "You're So Vain" and Helen Reddy's "I Am Woman".
