It Came From Canada?
Much of Canada's musical heritage lies waiting to be rediscovered in
attics, crawlspaces, mouldy boxes at flea markets and endless racks
of LPs at thrift stores. It Came From Canada is our attempt to dust off some of the music we've been lucky enough to find and help it reach new audiences.
The vast majority of this music is out of print, and our only
intention in hosting MP3 samples is to try and
spark a wider interest in it. However, if you are the artist or copyright holder for any of the material on this site and would like it removed, please contact us
and we will do so immediately.
And if you, or a friend or relative, are one of the musicians on
this site, we'd love to hear from you!

The Vinyl Hunters
We're two Canadian music geeks with a love
of obscure records by Canadian artists. If you'd like to get in
touch with us, just drop us a line.
Beau Levitt is a
Toronto librarian whose wife is no longer surprised by anything he brings home and throws on the turntable. His pet peeves include mismatched record sleeves, water damage and records that look like they were used as dinner
plates. When he's not working on this site, he's busy with his other audioblogs: Five Bucks On By-Tor and
The Thrifty Digger.
Kevin
McGowan is a technical writer by day, and a
hunter of old dusty records by night. His loving wife will often assist
in his quest for obscure Canadian music, but she's probably
getting pretty tired of it. A reformed punk-rocker and metalhead, he
now finds great pleasure in random polkas and old-school country
yodelling. In addition to his duties on this site, Kevin also hosts The Ruckus,
as part of the Rabble
Podcast Network . The show features the greatest NEW Canadian
music, and discussions on the music industry.
Shikha McGowan created our cool banner logo, and
is a part-time vinyl hunter.
Ritu
Gupta is our researcher, friend, supporter, and an American
resident (though a Canadian citizen!).
Sharron "Mom" McGowan
is a part-time vinyl hunter. |
